About Gisselle

Gisselle grew up in a garment factory in Hialeah, among Miami's Cuban exile community. Her family's history as political refugees shaped an early pull toward politics and human rights. She lost most of her hearing to a childhood vaccine, and growing up deaf in a hearing world sharpened the observational skills that have carried her through an unusual run of careers — ballerina, collegiate judo competitor, and eventually scientist.

As a field epidemiologist, she spent a decade in biodefense, chasing disease outbreaks across the globe before turning to writing. She draws on the conflicts she wrestled with in that work, bringing real sleuthing instincts to procedurals while writing character-driven drama. She's been staffed on ABC's Quantico and NBC's New Amsterdam, wrote for Moonbug's MY GO 2.0, and developed dramas with Telemundo.
